A comedy of gobbo errors.

This is a blog to follow my poker play from day to day, even though no one will likely read it until I completely skull people in the WSOP. You heard it here first, people.

Bittersweet.

9th in the stuper tonight. I think I played really really well tonight, including making a play that I was satisfied with even if the play itself backfired horribly. Here's the hand. Villain is JohnnyBax (you might have heard of him..?)

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t1500 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.comFlopTurnRiver.com (Format: Plain Text)

BB (t21947)
UTG (t114130)
UTG+1 (t23913)
MP1 (t55177)
MP2 (t20920)
gobbo (t40154)
Button (t27378)
SB (t43295)

Preflop: gobbo is CO with Ah, Jd.
4 folds, gobbo raises to t4000, 1 fold, SB raises to t12000, 1 fold, gobbo raises to t40079, SB calls t28079.

Flop: (t80608) 8c, 4c, 9c (2 players)

Turn: (t80608) 2s (2 players)

River: (t80608) Ad (2 players)

Final Pot: t80608

Results below:
gobbo has Ah Jd (one pair, aces).
SB has Qs Qd (one pair, queens).
Outcome: gobbo wins t80608.

Now, some people may be interested as to why I 4bet someone preflop with AJ. Well, in a vacuum this play is absolutely terrible. However, this is a HUGE case of "I know that he knows that I know." Bax knows that I'm an aggressive player, especially with a good sized stack. I have been QUITE active recently, including raising two other pots this orbit. I knew as soon as I raised AJ here I was going to take a stand if Bax or the BB repopped me and I had fold equity. Honestly, Bax can make this reraise with any two cards. He did unfortunately wake up with one of the only hands I was afraid of and I look like a huge idiot (even moreso because people LOVE Bax).

So, don't go thinking I'm a huge donkey because of this hand. I may be, but it's certainly not because of this play.

An epiphany.

Okay, maybe it's not THAT big a deal, but one thing is certain: I need to get out of Illinois and I need to lose weight. I know lots of jerks like to make fun of me for being fat in chatboxes on stars... well, screw you. I know I'm fat and I'm going to lose weight. So there.

I'm looking for ideas on where to live throughout the country. I might just move about for the next few months, though I'm not sure when this 'quest' will begin. I will be getting a mobile internet card for my computer though so I can still make the mobneys.

My new place!

I decided to put up a few pictures of the new place... hope you're as pleased with it as I am.

Oh, it's still a good feeling.

I won the stars 100r last night and got 7th in the stuper... I've been on such a cold tournament run for a long time, so this feels really good. Especially since I got in two HUGE pots yesterday deep in two tournaments in situations where it was almost unavoidable and lost both times (JJ < AA and AA < KK).

Yesterday I played a LOT of tournaments, which is something I haven't done for a long time. I've been only playing 3 tournaments a day or so, which for a person who plays solely MTT's that isn't nearly enough and I really shouldn't have the ability to whine about variance when I'm not playing very many a day. I guess it's out of laziness and not wanting to put together a schedule. Well, today, I'm gonna be doing a LOT of tournaments.

Keep the comments coming, I like reading them. ;) Hopefully I'll be posting something later tonight after I win a big one.

EDIT: Oh yeah, here are the hand histories from last night. Take em, you mooches.

I finally got my internet working, so I will try to be posting and actually playing some more poker soon. I'm actually starting to look for comments on my blog, so don't be afraid to leave any. ;)

Something you've all been waiting for.

Start drooling, here's something a lot of people (read: no one) have asked me for:

The gobboboy fan pokerstars picture! Just click it and then save it on your computer to get it on pokerstars. It looks big here, but it's actually smaller.

No snappy update title tonight.

Hey all, sorry for the recent lack of updates. I've been moving into a new place in the last couple days. It's a lot bigger, has central air and I'm going to get a brand new desktop with triple monitors (oh god, drool) relatively soon. It'll be a good place.

Honestly, the last few weeks have not been that interesting in poker for me. I don't want to blame it all on variance, but I have made several huge steps in my game and just have not been putting up results. Losing flips in the wrong spots deep in tournaments can suck when it happens over and over again. I don't know how Rizen does what he does, but he seems to win those flips EVERY TIME.

I've been playing the 75/150 O8 game on stars a lot, have a few thousand hands in it (hard to multitable, since it gets above 5 people very sparingly) and running alright at it (it would be nice not to tilt in it...)

I'll try to update more often, just holler at me in the stars chats and I'll do what I can. I also have a good idea for a new gobbogif, so I'll start working on that and post it when I get it done.
